For parents

For parents and guardians

AI Buddies helps South African learners in Grades 2 to 12 work through the CAPS curriculum, one subject and one term at a time. It was started by two brothers, Zack and Matthew, with their parents.

How it works

  1. On the home page, your child taps their grade, then a subject card.
  2. Each subject is one course for the whole year, with Terms 1 to 4 inside it. Tap Open course on the card to go to the course page on Coursebox, our learning platform. Subjects marked “Coming soon” are still being made.
  3. A parent or guardian enrols on Coursebox with their own name and email address and pays there. The learner then signs in to Coursebox with that account, in a phone’s web browser or the free Coursebox app. Please use a nickname for your child in the course, not their full name or school.

Price

Grades 2–7: R100 per subject per year. Grades 8–10: R300 per subject per year. Grades 11–12: R500 per subject per year. All four terms are included, and prices are in rand (ZAR). Enrolment and payment happen on Coursebox’s secure checkout, not on this website, and only a parent or guardian should pay. We never see or store your card details.

The AI buddy

Some pages have an optional AI study buddy. It is a computer program, not a real person. It gives hints and asks questions rather than just giving answers, and it is told never to ask for personal information. Your child may only start it after ticking that a parent or guardian agreed. We do not keep chat conversations.

Saving mobile data

The site is built to be light. Courses and the buddy only load when your child taps them. The “Open course” button uses less data than showing a course inside the page.
